Keep Your Smile White By Avoiding These 4 Items

The food you eat is as important as brushing and flossing on a regular basis. Different types of foods can stain your teeth causing them to look dirty and unhealthy. Avoiding these 4 foods can help to naturally keep your smile white and healthy without expensive procedures or whitening kits that cause your teeth to be sensitive. A white and healthy smile can increase your self-confidence. Millions of people a year flock to the store to purchase at home whitening kits, but instead of spending your money on these items, you can help by taking precautions and minimizing consumption of certain foods and drink.

Minimize your consumption of black tea and coffee. The more of these you drink, the more problems you may have with stains.  A cup a day may not impact your smile, but a pot a day can cause a problem for your smile.

Highly pigmented foods such as blueberries and strawberries can cause staining. If you do choose to consume them, eat them in smaller amounts. You should also brush and floss as soon as possible in order to remove the juice from your teeth.

Do you love curry? The deep yellow of the curry can cause staining on the front of your teeth over time. While again a small amount of curry may not cause problems for your smile, consuming large amounts for long periods of time can keep you from enjoying a pearly white smile.

Red wine, is a controversial topic. One day a glass of wine is good for you and the next it is a problem. But if you are going to consume red wine, it is better to brush your teeth immediately after consuming it.

Dr. Judy Strutz and her team recommends consuming foods that help keep your smile white and healthy.  For more information on food that can improve your smile, contact her and her team today.
