Spending Time At Home


While some people may enjoy being at home, many people are struggling with isolation or not having the opportunity to be with people in person. While this can be difficult developing, great dental and health habits can be a great way to ensure you have a healthy smile when quarantine is over. Here are three strategies you can use to start a healthy habit:  
  1. Define your why and start with what healthy people do. For example, if you want to brush more frequently. Ask yourself why you want this habit? What will you get out of having a healthy smile when you brush 3x a day or 2x a day? Put those reminders around you. For example, on a sticky note on the bathroom mirror or on the refrigerator when you go to get food. Take a picture of you with your current smile and then have a picture up of the healthy smile you are looking to have. 
  2. Don't spend more than 2 minutes. Brushing your smile does not take a lot of time. 
  3. Start with this sentence, when I wake up, I'm going to brush my teeth and then __________. Insert into the blank something fun you get to do when you have brushed your teeth. This is a great way to reinforce in your brain; something fantastic is going to happen once you get done with the task.
