Manuel or Electric Toothbrush?

While we have been reeling from the impact of COVID-19, and dental offices have not seen patients, your dental health must be still taken care of. But with all the information on dental health, what is the best system?

A manual toothbrush can provide a tried and true clean you need. However, the electric toothbrush depending on which; one you go with might provide a timer, superior plaque removal, and the ability to ensure your teeth are clean. While the research is still out on whether an electric or manual toothbrush is better, one thing is for sure, brushing is essential to ensure your smile is healthy.

No matter the toothbrush you go choose, you want to brush in gentle circles for at least 2 minutes. You want to avoid brushing too hard and be sure that the toothbrush head fits comfortably in your mouth.

While it can be difficult to reach the inside of your molars or the side closest to your cheek, not allowing plaque to build up in these hard to reach spots is imperative to having a healthy smile.

You Deserve The Best Smile!

While people may think their bodies' health is more important than their dental health, however, your dental health is a direct reflection of your overall health. While the food you eat can negatively impact your health it can impact your dental health as well. Here are 4 rules to keep your smile healthy. 

  1. Drink water. I'm sure you hear this all the time. Every time you turn around there is a magazine, blog, or other written form that talks about how your consumption of water is the key to your health. Water is fantastic for your smile too. It rinses food from sticking to the enamel on your teeth to decrease the risk of decay. 
  2. Eat vegetables. Vegetables contain a high concentration of water, and because they are low in carbohydrates they do not stick to your teeth. 
  3. Brush, floss, and rinse with at least water. You want to brush and floss your teeth every day. You have to be able to take care of your smile. This is the best way to do it.

Do You Have Questions?



Here are the top 3 questions that patients ask us during the COVID-19 pandemic that might be helpful for you as well. We know this is a difficult time, and things are not easy, but we hope to answer some of these questions can help. If you have other questions, feel free to contact us.

  1. When you will re-open? Right now we are waiting on the word when small businesses including dental offices can re-open. We don’t have a hard date yet, but please know we are making adjustments to ensure that when we can re-open, we will do everything we can to keep you and our staff healthy.

  1. What changes are being made in the office to ensure it is clean? We have always and will continue to ensure the waiting room is wiped down appropriately. That our dental rooms are clean and that all equipment, instruments, and materials are properly sterilized.

  1. Can I come in even if I’m not feeling well? It is best to stay home if you are not feeling well. This will be what is best for you and for the team. We want to be sure your visit is as fantastic as possible and if you are not feeling well that will take away from your visit.

Take Care Of Yourself!




There are so many things you can do in your home right now in order to keep your health up and you on the right track. Each one of these small habits can improve your overall mood, which can improve your overall health. Let me ask you? Have you struggled to remember to brush your teeth every day or to floss? While these things seem small, they make a large difference for the overall health of your smile. So, what habit do you need to change? Or what small change do you need to make?

Let’s break it down.

What time do you wake up in the morning? Before doing anything else, step in the bathroom, grab your toothbrush, set your timer, and brush for 2 minutes. You want to be sure to gently brush in circles gently.

This brings me to habit #2. You want to brush gently. Gentle circles help to keep your gums in great shape. If you brush too vigorously it can break down and damage your gums.

Once you have completed brushing in each of the four quadrants, play your favorite song, listen to a book on your phone or download your favorite podcast and begin to floss. You want to gently floss between each one of your teeth. Flossing is the best thing you can do for your gums.

We are so hopeful that soon we will be able to see you in our office. Please know this has been a very difficult time for us because we love being with you! Our patients are so important to us, and having you as part of our day means everything. So, what will it be like when you come back?

We will continue to provide the best care we can to you. We are here to here your concerns about your smile. We want to ensure whatever, you need to have the healthiest smile is in the works.

We will continue to clean our office. We know your health and safety is essential. We want to assure you our staff is ensuring we sanitize and clean our office in the manner in which you have become accustomed to.

Are You Taking Care of Yourself?





With so much going on around you it can be easy to forget your needs. While you may be helping your children get to school work is done, ensuring that the house is clean and sterile and still doing your own job that pays the bills it can be easy to forget that you too need to be taken care of. 
Here are 5 Tips for ensuring that you are staying healthy during this difficult time. 
  1. Take time to breathe. Breathing is one of the most important things we can do to stop negative thoughts in their tracks. While most people think breathing is something we do naturally, most people breathe shallowly throughout their day. Taking nice deep breaths in and out can release tension, decrease your stress level, and help you get back to a place of calm. 
  2. Brush and floss your teeth. Brush for 2 minutes. While you are ensuring that your smile is taken care of in these two minutes; this also gives you time to take a step back and get your mind back on track. 
  3. Start your morning off right. Either by grabbing a piece of fruit, going for a quick walk, or taking in the quiet sounds around you. A few minutes in the morning can change your entire day.
