5 Ways To Improve Your Smile

A healthy and beautiful smile is a great way to start off the New Year. How do you get there? It can be difficult with all of the different products and commercials out there to determine the best ways to really have the smile you want.

1.     Brush regularly. This is nothing new. You have probably been hearing this since you were a small child. There is no other way to remove food from the surface of the teeth but to brush and remove food from the enamel.
2.     Floss. Flossing regularly means that you do not have food build up on your gums.
Build- up the gums can cause bleeding, inflammation and more severe problems later on such as periodontal disease.
3.     Consume healthy fruits and vegetables. Food that has a higher quantity of water in it helps to remove food from the surface of the teeth. When you consume vegetables and fruits it rinses the teeth so that food does not stay stuck on the enamel.
4.     Decrease the amount of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are a sticky substance that sticks to the enamel.
5.     Visit the cosmetic dentist to take care of any problems. While a crack, broken or missing tooth might seem like a very small problem. It is actually a problem that can get out of hand if not taken care of.

Your smile can last a lifetime when it is taken care of. For more information on how to keep your smile healthy, contact Dr. Strutz and her team today.

Your Smile

Your teeth are the backbone to your smile but did you know that your smile is also linked to your overall health? If you have decay, periodontal disease, cracked or broken teeth it can lead to other problems. For example, a heart attack or a decrease in energy. It can also make it very painful and difficult to consume food that you once loved leading to depression and an overall sense of sadness. When you have infection it is not something that can go away on its own. You also do not want to have your body in a tailspin trying to fight an on-going infection.

How do you combat the problems or the infection? First, you need to schedule a visit with your cosmetic dentist. While regular brushing and flossing will help things from getting worse, it will not help the infection go away. Visiting with your cosmetic dentist will ensure that you are able to come up with a treatment plan that is going to not only get rid of the infection it will also allow you to develop a plan to ensure the underlined problem is taken care of.

Dental infections do not just go away. You must receive treatment of sorts in order to be sure that the infection is taken care of and not going to return any time soon. For more information or to schedule a consultation, contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.

Protect Your Smile From The Holiday Feast!

There is no easy way to put this; the carbs and sugar in the foods we consume for the traditional Thanksgiving festivities can wreak havoc on your smile. This year take care of your teeth with these 5 easy tips.

  1. Don’t eat late in the evening. If you are going to have a later dinner stick to the lower carbohydrate items, skip the dessert and eat some vegetables. This will ensure that sugar doesn’t stick to the surface of your teeth.
  2. Brush your teeth after eating. The sooner you brush the better because it will remove any food build-up from sticking to your teeth.
  3. Drink at least a glass or two of water. Water is not only great for your body, but it helps keep your smile in great shape.
  4. Don’t skip the floss. There is no other way to protect your gums from Turkey, Green Bean Casserole, Rolls and stuffing. Ensure you get all of the food out between your teeth to decrease the risk of problems later on.
  5. Chew a piece of sugar-free gum. This is not only a great way to help you not to keep snacking after dinner is cleared but it can also help to remove any food that may still be on your teeth.

Thanksgiving meals are great for family time, friends, games, and fun. Keep from having dental problems after the event. For more information on keeping your smile healthy through the holidays, Contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.

1.     Brush regularly. Your cosmetic dental practice, Dr. Judy Strutz and her team cannot stress the importance of this enough. In order to keep your smile healthy, it is critical that you brush.

4.     Do not consume non-food items. Chewing on hard items can cause you to crack or break a tooth.

Keep Your Veneers In Great Shape

Now that you have spent some time and money taking care of your smile and getting veneers, it is equally important that you continue to take care of your investment. Just brushing and flossing regularly is not enough to ensure that your new smile lasts a lifetime.  Here are 5 tips for taking care of veneers.

Use toothpaste that is not harsh or that can be abrasive for your new teeth. It is essential to keeping brushing two times a day or after every meal to ensure food is not sticking to your teeth, but the toothpaste you use can impact your smile.

Floss. You may believe that because you have veneers there is no reason to floss. However, flossing helps keep your gums in great shape, which is essential to keeping your veneers intact.

Use water or other mouthwash to rinse, especially after you have eaten a high carbohydrate food. You want to keep food from sticking to your veneers.

If you are going to play in sport or activity that may damage your veneers use a mouth guard to protect them.

Avoid consuming or chewing on items that are not food. Once the veneers have set, most foods that you eat should not be a problem, but eating ice or other hard objects can chip or crack the veneer.

For more information on keeping your veneers in great shape contact, Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.

4 Things You Should Know About your Temporary Crown

During the process of getting a crown it can be difficult to deal with the temporary crown. Taking care of your temporary crown is critical to ensure that you can have the best end result. A temporary crown is used while your dental team is getting the permanent crown ready or waiting for the lab to get it ready. Here are 4 things you should know about your temporary crown.
1.     Avoid certain foods. You should avoid chewing anything that is hard to chew, sticky, or foods that can get stuck between your teeth.

2.     Brush and floss as normal but be careful around the temporary crown. You may experience bleeding in the area where the crown is, or discomfort. If you experience bleeding you can rinse with warm water.

3.     If your temporary crown falls off please contact your dentist immediately. It will need to be replaced or reset in order to not mess up the dental work that is planned.

6 Ways to Improve Your Smile Today!

Your smile is a secret weapon you can share with the world and that can help you achieve your goals. People who smile more tend to be less stressed, but if you are hiding your smile because you have cracked, broken or stained teeth, now is the time to take the leap to improve your smile. Here are six ways you can improve your smile today.

1.     Veneers. Veneers can cover up existing problems with the shape or color of your teeth.

2.     Implants. Do you have missing teeth? The implants today are not the implants from the past. There are many more options for both the implant themselves and also what can be done with them, opening up more opportunities for significant change. Implants placed in your jaw can keep bone levels stable, dentures in place or restore a single missing tooth.
3.     Periodontal care. It is critical to ensure your gums are healthy to avoid future problems with losing teeth. It is NOT normal to have bleeding when brushing or flossing, but instead this is an initial warning sign of something serious going on.

4.     Brushing and flossing. While brushing and flossing is not going to immediately fix major dental problems, it will help keep your smile healthy especially after you have had dental procedures done.
