4 Ways To Tell If You Have An Occlusal Jaw Problem

Jaw problems can be painful but they also can cause cracked teeth, pain and problems that create long term damage to your smile. If your jaw is out of alignment it can further cause problems with the teeth, muscles and the jaw joint. You may also unfortunately experience problems with all three.  Here are 4 ways you can tell if you have a jaw misalignment problem that may require an appointment with Dr. Strutz and her team.

1.     Your teeth are worn in the front. Occlusal problems put pressure on your teeth in different places that cause teeth to wear down in the front.
2.     Pain in your jaw after consuming food, when you wake up in the morning or throughout the day. Your jaw muscle should not have to work hard to do its job. If you have pain, now is the time to contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team to get help.
3.     Teeth sensitivity to hot and cold. Occlusal problems wear down the enamel of the tooth exposing it to hot and cold foods and temperatures.
4.     Broken or cracked teeth. When you bite down on a tooth in the wrong spot it can begin to crack under the pressure.
