Toothache

Did you know that there are a variety of causes of a toothache? Not all of them mean a problem that requires visiting the dentist. While there may be dental pain problems that persist, some of these are minor and will go away on their own. Here are a few problems that you may face at one time or another that does not need to be a cause for alarm.

If you bite into something hard you may put a strain on the connective tissue in your teeth.  If it persists over several days or does not seem to be getting better you might want to reach out to your cosmetic dentist to be sure it is not something more.
Flossing can sometimes cause discomfort.

Sharp or shooting pain when you bite on something. There are a number of reasons this may occur. You may have sensitive teeth that are causing the problem.  Or it may be that you bit down on a part of the tooth that does not have as strong enamel. If you continue to experience pain or sensitivity we highly recommend you visit the dentist. However, if it is just once or twice, it might not be cause for concern.
