3 Reasons You Should Visit Your Cosmetic Dentist

There are probably 100 reasons we could come up with why you should visit the dentist if you have not seen them lately. However, Dr. Judy Strutz and her team want to ensure you have the healthiest smile possible. Visiting regularly can ensure your dental plan is in place and no problems are cropping up. Here are 3 reasons why your smile might have a problem and why it's essential to schedule an appointment.

1. Visiting the dentist at least every six months can allow an opportunity for any problems to be taken care of quickly. However, often issues arise over time, and without proper dental care, you risk a minor problem becoming a significant problem.

2. Check-up! We all need some a check-up now and again. Our smile can have little things that crop up where cleaning can make all the difference.

3. Hidden problems. We don't always know what is going on with our smiles. An opportunity to have a dentist look at the inner workings of what is going on can ensure minor hidden problems that could turn into something significant if not taken care of.

Your smile matters! Contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team for more information about your smile or schedule an appointment today.

It can be stressful when your smile does not look the way you want it to, but you do not have to live with it.

You Deserve The Best Smile!

While people may think their bodies' health is more important than their dental health, however, your dental health is a direct reflection of your overall health. While the food you eat can negatively impact your health it can impact your dental health as well. Here are 4 rules to keep your smile healthy.

  1. Drink water. I'm sure you hear this all the time. Every time you turn around there is a magazine, blog, or other written form that talks about how your consumption of water is the key to your health. Water is fantastic for your smile too. It rinses food from sticking to the enamel on your teeth to decrease the risk of decay.
  2. Eat vegetables. Vegetables contain a high concentration of water, and because they are low in carbohydrates they do not stick to your teeth.
  3. Brush, floss, and rinse with at least water. You want to brush and floss your teeth every day. You have to be able to take care of your smile. This is the best way to do it.
Take care of your smile. If you need help, reach out to us. We're here to ensure you can show your smile to the world.

Are You Taking Care of Yourself?

With so much going on around you it can be easy to forget your needs. While you may be helping your children get to school work is done, ensuring that the house is clean and sterile and still doing your own job that pays the bills it can be easy to forget that you too need to be taken care of.
Here are 5 Tips for ensuring that you are staying healthy during this difficult time.
  1. Take time to breathe. Breathing is one of the most important things we can do to stop negative thoughts in their tracks. While most people think breathing is something we do naturally, most people breathe shallowly throughout their day. Taking nice deep breaths in and out can release tension, decrease your stress level, and help you get back to a place of calm.
  2. Brush and floss your teeth. Brush for 2 minutes. While you are ensuring that your smile is taken care of in these two minutes; this also gives you time to take a step back and get your mind back on track.
  3. Start your morning off right. Either by grabbing a piece of fruit, going for a quick walk, or taking in the quiet sounds around you. A few minutes in the morning can change your entire day.

It is critically important that during this time of quarantine that you are not just practicing social distancing but also that you are taking care of your health as well. Your dental health can directly impact your overall health. So, not only do you need to wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough and stay home if you are feeling under the weather. Here are 4 other habits you should establish during this time to take care of your health.

  1. Brush and floss your teeth regularly. If you have periodontal disease or other dental problems right now, it can negatively impact your health.
  2. Drink water. Water helps flush out toxins in your system. Having an opportunity to flush out anything that is building up can be beneficial to your body.
  3. Eat vegetables. Consuming enough vegetables in your daily diet is the key to ensuring you stay healthy.
  4. Get plenty of exercises. Your body needs regular activity to stay healthy. Sitting around for long periods can cause overall health problems for your body that can last a lifetime. While you must eat healthy, working out is essential.

Protect Your Health

No more than ever you must take care of your dental health. While we do not think of health being impacted by our smile or what is going on with our mouth, having a compromised immune system due to periodontal disease or other dental problems can make you vulnerable to other problems.

While washing your hands, brushing, flossing, drinking water and rinsing your teeth after consuming certain foods was always important. Did you know these things can help you fight against certain components of illnesses that are currently impacting people?

Rinsing your mouth with water after consuming food can ensure that bacteria does not build up on your teeth. If you have a cavity or a more serious dental problem, this can cause your body to go into fight mode, causing your immune system to have to move into overdrive. This can then cause long-term problems as well as creating a problem for your body if it needs to fight off other infections. If you think that you have an illness, please stay home, however, if you have a problem with your dental health taking care of the problem as soon as possible can ensure that you stay healthy through these difficult times.

For more information on protecting yourself, contact Dr.Judy Strutz and her team.

Toothache

Did you know that there are a variety of causes of a toothache? Not all of them mean a problem that requires visiting the dentist. While there may be dental pain problems that persist, some of these are minor and will go away on their own. Here are a few problems that you may face at one time or another that does not need to be a cause for alarm.

If you bite into something hard you may put a strain on the connective tissue in your teeth.  If it persists over several days or does not seem to be getting better you might want to reach out to your cosmetic dentist to be sure it is not something more.
Flossing can sometimes cause discomfort.

Sharp or shooting pain when you bite on something. There are a number of reasons this may occur. You may have sensitive teeth that are causing the problem.  Or it may be that you bit down on a part of the tooth that does not have as strong enamel. If you continue to experience pain or sensitivity we highly recommend you visit the dentist. However, if it is just once or twice, it might not be cause for concern.

Your health is so important, and yet we often do not think about how much of an impact the health of our smile can have on our overall health. While you may believe that it is no big deal and you can just live with it, finding out what the problem is and getting it fixed as soon as possible is going to help you to get back to your old self. With todays' technology in dentistry, there are so many options.

Don’t wait until your smile is in bad shape. Get help today and get back to living your life the way you want to, on your terms. For more information on dental and cosmetic procedures to improve your dental health, contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team today!

Do You Have A Stutter

You may have had a stutter throughout your entire life that impacts your social life now. Maybe you have found ways to get around it and work through it until you are in the middle of a bunch of people staring at you. It is okay, there now may be a procedure that can help. If you have tried other things and stuttering is still a problem you are facing, contact Dr. JudyStrutz and her team and schedule a consultation for Lip or Tongue-tie laser surgery.

It was believed a few years ago that lip and tongue ties only impacted babies when they were breastfeeding, but recent research shows us that not only can a tongue tie that goes untreated cause problems for a little one trying to learn to read and talk, it can have long-lasting problems for individuals as well, and one of those problems are stuttering.

The piece of skin that holds the tongue down is necessary so that there is a structure in place and that your tongue just doesn’t flop around in your mouth, but when this tissue is too tight, it can lead to a host of problems for individuals. New laser procedures can help release this and allow you to live the life you have wanted, free of stuttering.

For more information or to schedule a consultation, contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team today.

Adult Laser Procedure

Have you heard of a lip or tongue tie? You may think this only impacts children, however, if you have not had this procedure done as a child you may one know that is impacting your life. A tight frenulum can impact your speech, reading, and even your speech. While you may think it is minor and is not impacting you long term, having a laser procedure can allow you to have the benefits of a tongue or lip release.

This procedure is quick and usually takes only one office visit. While a consultation is critical in order for all parties to be on the same page, this can be a great time for you to get all of your questions answered as well as determine the impact of the lip or tongue tie on you.

While the site may be sore for a few days after you have the procedure, making sure to take care of the site and ensuring you follow the aftercare procedures can help you to get the results you are looking for. You might be surprised at the end result of this release.

For more information on adult laser procedures contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.

Cosmetic Dentistry

The dental field is ever growing with a field of options, types and information overload. So, how do you know that you are getting the best cosmetic dentist you can? Or how do you know that your dentist is going to take care of your needs and not leave you in the lurch? Thanks to Facebook and other social media sites you can check out your dentist ahead of time. However, you can also ask these 4 questions to see if they are in line with what you value.

1.     When you go there, how does it feel? Are people friendly, helpful and do they know who you are?

2.     Are they knowledgeable about the procedures you want to get?

3.      Are they able to answer the questions that you have? It is critically important that you feel comfortable when you are visiting a cosmetic dentist. Having someone you can trust, and feels like an extension of your business world is important.

4.     Do they have updated equipment and knowledge of current procedures? Our world is a fast paced world that is changing all of the time. Having a cosmetic dentist who is able to move in that world with you is important. Ask about their training and their current understanding of new dental information in relation to what procedure you are looking for.

Most importantly do your homework. If a dentist doesn’t feel good when you walk in, or you don’t feel you are getting what you need, don’t stay. For more information on cosmetic dentistry procedures contact Dr. Judy Strutz.

Why Temporary Implants Can Slow You Down

Traditional dentures and partials for missing teeth may have been the way to go a few years ago, but with the technology available for fixed appliances you can now safely leave your removable dentures to the wind.  Not only do traditional dentures take a ton of time, they could be expensive when you needed to replace them often due to misplacing them.

No more. Fixed dentures, once placed, do not need to be taken out, rinsed, or replaced. You can treat them as your real teeth. This means you are able to consume the food you love, or enjoy the motorcycle ride you have wanted to take, all without having to worry about losing your teeth.

Traditional dentures sometimes take months to get the right fit. This may leave you going back into the office a number of times in order to have the dentures work for you. With fixed dentures, this process is less hassle, with less visits to Dr. Strutz and a healthy smile you love as a final result.  Fixed dentures are anchored into the jaw-bone, alleviating the need for  denture adhesives.  This really is the best way to get the smile you deserve after you have been impacted by missing teeth.

For more information on fixed dentures, contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.
