Taking Care of Your Smile

Caring for your teeth is not an easy task, but planning and completing these few steps can ensure you have a smile that lasts your lifetime. During this time, it is even more important for you to implement these steps to take care of your teeth. Your health depends on it.

  1. Take care of dental emergencies. You do not want to wait for an emergency to happen and then leave it. The longer you leave a dental emergency, the more of a the problem it can become.
  2. Your gum health matters. Do you bleed when you brush or floss? Letting this go can lead to other problems. Be sure to brush and floss regularly. While you cannot take care of the periodontal disease without dental intervention, you can stop problems from getting worse by brushing and flossing regularly.
  3. Stop smoking. While you have probably heard this for years if you are a smoker, the impact on your smile can be as devastating as the overall problem it is to your body.
  4. Don’t forget to brush hard-to-reach places. The back of your teeth, your back molars and other hard to reach places need to be brushed also.

There is so much going on and now is not the time to let your dental health go. For more information on taking care of your smile contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her office.

Update!

Yesterday my team and I made the extremely difficult situation to close the office in response to the recommendations of the American Dental Association to play our part in mitigating and containing COVID-19 Virus. While this was not an easy decision we want to be sure we are doing our part to keep our patients and our staff healthy.

We hope to reopen as soon as it is safe for us to do so but as you know things are changing rapidly and this situation is fluid. We will continue to monitor things and be in touch as things change.

If you have an emergency and you are a patient of record please call our office and leave a message or call Dr. Strutz’s cell. We are trying to get in touch with everyone, cancel appointments,  and create a plan with patients who are in the middle of treatment. Please be patient. If we do not respond right away, know that we will get back to you as soon as possible. We are here to support you and your dental health. Your well-being is our top priority.

Nothing changes when we live in comfort. This is an extraordinary time where we are watching things shift and change not only our planet but as humans. We are finding ways to come together and spread kindness when times are difficult. However, I believe at this time that it is an opportunity to look at the amazing things around us that are allowing us to accept these massive disruptions and build new, build better. We each have an energy that we are putting out in the world and to the people around us. We can make the conscious choice to change the habits that do not serve us, others and our planet. We have the opportunity to switch up our habits and become the best version of humans that we can be.

Our energy and what we put out around us matters. People are choosing to help each other out, go the extra mile. They are finding ways to come together as a community at the cellular level. This will be the blocks we need to rebuild in a healthier, better and more positive way. For right now we have to accept the disruption, we have to accept the major shift that is happening around us because when we lean into the shift great things will happen.

Thank You,

Stay Healthy!

At Dr. Strutz’s cosmetic dental office, your health and the health of our staff are of the utmost importance.  To ensure this, we follow universally accepted precautions in our operatories and office. Additionally, we consistently wipe down the waiting room and common spaces with disinfectant.
In efforts to help our patients with dental emergencies, we have taken careful considerations to limit our schedule during this time. We are taking precautions to make sure that we do our best to take care of all of our patients and the team during these times. In doing so, we have asked our patients for some additional information and understanding.
·      We are asking that patients please come to their scheduled appointments alone unless they are in need of a caregiver or if they are a minor. Minors should be accompanied by only a parent/guardian.
·      We are asking if you are not feeling well, have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, please contact your physician and call our office to reschedule your appointment.
·      We are asking if you have traveled internationally, been on a cruise, have flu-like symptoms, or work in a place with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past two weeks. We ask that they reschedule or make the appointment for a later date.

·      We are asking if anyone in your household is sick or gets sick prior to or on the day of the patient’s appointment, that you please reschedule altogether.
·      We are asking that you please wash your hands after you have checked in and fill out any necessary forms.
·      We ask that you avoid coming earlier than their check-in time to avoid multiple patients in the waiting room.
·      We are asking all currently scheduled patients the same questions and giving them the option to either keep their scheduled appointment or reschedule to a later date with no penalty for our 48hr notice policy.
·      We are asking that our referring offices please call us ahead if the patient does not have a scheduled appointment so that we can triage the patients appropriately.
We want you to be reassured that we are being more vigilant in all areas of our office when it comes to infection control. Surfaces in the waiting room, front desk areas, and restroom(s), which are normally cleaned and disinfected daily, are now being disinfected throughout the day on an hourly basis. Our team is being very precautious to ensure that our Patients, Doctors and themselves, stay healthy during the current COVID-19 crisis. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Dental Emergency’s

When you have a dental emergency it can feel like time has slowed down and you are never going to have the smile you want, but rest assured that with the help of Dr. Judy Strutz and her cosmetic dental team there are plenty of options you can take advantage of that will help you to fix your smile.

Dentistry has changed a lot in the last 20 years and some of the procedures that were not available prior are easy - 1, 2, 3 procedures that can improve the look and feel of your smile. For example, if you end up losing a tooth or having a tooth knocked out, you can attempt to replant the tooth until you can get to your dental office. If not, ensuring that you get to the cosmetic dentist can give you options to replace the missing tooth to avoid further problems.

A broken tooth can be tempting to just pull from the socket and be done with, however, taking the time to meet with a cosmetic dentist may provide you with a better option, such as placing a bridge or a permanent implant.

Take Charge of Your Smile

Dental problems are solely in your own hands. Only you can prevent problems with your smile. Taking risks with your smile or not taking care of problems that arise can cause other problems with your smile that impact you for a lifetime. Recent research has found that not only is there direct health risks for you, but if you are pregnant there may be risks of early birth, low birth weight babies and preeclampsia. But you can take charge of your smile ensuring you have a healthy smile for a lifetime.

In order to make sure that your smile is healthy there are easy steps you can take. Brush and floss regularly especially if you consume a high carbohydrate meal. The more carbohydrates you consume the more likely you are to have food stick to the surface of your teeth which then turns to sugar. The sugar then begins to eat the enamel causing problems for your smile.

Visit the dentist on a regular basis and ask your cosmetic dentist for options on how to improve any dental problems you are facing. Don’t let them get away from you. Taking charge of your smile can ensure you minimize dental emergencies.
