Check-in?

How are you doing with your dental goals? During COVID, when families were at home more, it might have been easier. But now that life is potentially picking up again, are you keeping up?

By keeping up, I mean not just brushing and flossing, but have you scheduled that necessary dental appointment? You want to be sure to schedule time with the dentist to work with any dental problems that may have arisen. For example, if you have cavities or if you have lost a tooth. Waiting is not in the best interest of your smile.

Have you been eating fruits, vegetables, and drinking water? All of these are valuable in helping your smile stay healthy. The last thing you want is to have decay or food build up on your teeth because that can lead to other problems later on. While being safe is essential, if you neglect your smile, now might be the time to schedule that appointment with your cosmetic dental procedure. Contact Dr. Judy Strutz for more information on scheduling your dental appointment.

Give Your Smile A Chance

Your smile gives you chance after chance to be as healthy as possible. Have you been treating your smile right? Instead, give yourself the gift of a special treat. Take your smile to the next level.
Your smile is not going to give up on you, but you should not give up on it either. There is plenty of options when it comes to restoring your smile to its formal glory. Don't Leave Your Smile Vulnerable

You deserve to have a beautiful and healthy smile. Do not leave your smile vulnerable to cavities, periodontal disease or missing, cracked or broken teeth. Taking time to visit your cosmetic dentist and receive a consultation on your smile, can ensure you are on the right track. Nowadays, grabbing a soda and candy bar for lunch may be the norm for you. However, that amount of sugar can impact your smile.

There are so many choices you can make during the day. If you are going to consume sugar or a high carbohydrate meal, instead of waiting until bedtime to brush, you might want to consider brushing your teeth or rinsing with water to remove some of the food particles from the surface of your teeth. The longer these items are glued to the enamel on your teeth the more damage that is done.

If you find you are struggling to have a healthy smile you love, contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team. They can help evaluate and work with you on a plan to get your smile back in order. It is critically important you have a healthy smile because if not it can lead to other more detrimental problems later on.

Visiting The Dentist During the COVID-19

While most states have opened back up, you might still have some concerns or anxiety about COVID-19 and visiting the dentist. We assure you that we take the procedures for safety and cleanliness in our office as a top priority.  We want all of our patients to feel safe.

If you do visit the office, we have PPE that our team is wearing in order to protect us, and you. We are continuing with the sanitization procedures of our chairs and dental materials that we have always done. However, we are also asking that you do not bring other individuals with you to your appointment in order to decrease the risk of exposure and decrease the number of individuals who are in the waiting room. Now Is Your Time!

You deserve to have a healthy smile. Think of your smile as the foundation of your house. If your foundation has decay, problems or you have broken or cracked teeth, it can create a problem for your overall health. However, if you take care of your teeth, then it is easier for your body to run at full capacity.

For example, periodontal disease is known to cause an increased risk of heart disease. The problem with periodontal disease is that your body is always fighting an infection. The food you consume turns to acid in your mouth, the more acid or the higher carbohydrate count in your food can cause more problems for your smile. While brushing, and flossing is a great strategy for combating this problem, it is critically important to take the time needed to visit the dentist. You want to ensure these problems are not getting worse and that there is not a build-up of bacteria on the surface of your teeth.

However, you also want to plan for regular dental cleanings. You wan to be sure you have cosmetic dental procedures completed if you have cracked or broken teeth, and visiting your cosmetic dentist regularly can ensure you have a smile that is going to last a lifetime. Contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team today to schedule an appointment.

Manuel or Electric Toothbrush?

While we have been reeling from the impact of COVID-19, and dental offices have not seen patients, your dental health must be still taken care of. But with all the information on dental health, what is the best system?

A manual toothbrush can provide a tried and true clean you need. However, the electric toothbrush depending on which; one you go with might provide a timer, superior plaque removal, and the ability to ensure your teeth are clean. While the research is still out on whether an electric or manual toothbrush is better, one thing is for sure, brushing is essential to ensure your smile is healthy.

No matter the toothbrush you go choose, you want to brush in gentle circles for at least 2 minutes. You want to avoid brushing too hard and be sure that the toothbrush head fits comfortably in your mouth.

While it can be difficult to reach the inside of your molars or the side closest to your cheek, not allowing plaque to build up in these hard to reach spots is imperative to having a healthy smile.

Take Care Of Yourself!

There are so many things you can do in your home right now in order to keep your health up and you on the right track. Each one of these small habits can improve your overall mood, which can improve your overall health. Let me ask you? Have you struggled to remember to brush your teeth every day or to floss? While these things seem small, they make a large difference for the overall health of your smile. So, what habit do you need to change? Or what small change do you need to make?

Let’s break it down.

What time do you wake up in the morning? Before doing anything else, step in the bathroom, grab your toothbrush, set your timer, and brush for 2 minutes. You want to be sure to gently brush in circles gently.

This brings me to habit #2. You want to brush gently. Gentle circles help to keep your gums in great shape. If you brush too vigorously it can break down and damage your gums.

Once you have completed brushing in each of the four quadrants, play your favorite song, listen to a book on your phone or download your favorite podcast and begin to floss. You want to gently floss between each one of your teeth. Flossing is the best thing you can do for your gums.

These two things can improve your dental health, which can improve your physical health and when you feel good physically, you can change your overall mood. It doesn’t take a drastic change just a small habit change. For more information about healthy habits contact, Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.

Are You Taking Care of Yourself?

With so much going on around you it can be easy to forget your needs. While you may be helping your children get to school work is done, ensuring that the house is clean and sterile and still doing your own job that pays the bills it can be easy to forget that you too need to be taken care of.
Here are 5 Tips for ensuring that you are staying healthy during this difficult time.
  1. Take time to breathe. Breathing is one of the most important things we can do to stop negative thoughts in their tracks. While most people think breathing is something we do naturally, most people breathe shallowly throughout their day. Taking nice deep breaths in and out can release tension, decrease your stress level, and help you get back to a place of calm.
  2. Brush and floss your teeth. Brush for 2 minutes. While you are ensuring that your smile is taken care of in these two minutes; this also gives you time to take a step back and get your mind back on track.
  3. Start your morning off right. Either by grabbing a piece of fruit, going for a quick walk, or taking in the quiet sounds around you. A few minutes in the morning can change your entire day.
Your health is so important to us. For more information about taking care of your health, look through our other blogs or contact us. Here is our website for more information: https://www.drjudystrutz.com/

Establish Healthy Dental Habits

Now can be such a difficult time. There is so much going on in the world around you and so many things that can pull your attention. Building and establishing a routine can help to decrease other problems that you may be facing. We recommend you start your day by brushing and flossing your teeth.

Have a clean and healthy smile can help you to feel motivated to complete other tasks during the day. Once your smile is healthy, your body can begin to heal as well. If your gums are bleeding or you have pain when you brush or floss you will want to reach out to your dentist to get your smile back on track. Did you know, an unhealthy smile can impact your overall health also.

Other ways to keep your smile and body healthy is consuming vegetables that are high in water content. This will remove other food from the surface of the teeth. The longer that food stays on the enamel the more at risk you are of other dental problems. While now is a unique time for so many, your smile should still be a top priority.

For more information on keeping your smile in great shape, contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.

Are You Following Healthy Guidelines?

It is critically important that during this time of quarantine that you are not just practicing social distancing but also that you are taking care of your health as well. Your dental health can directly impact your overall health. So, not only do you need to wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough and stay home if you are feeling under the weather. Here are 4 other habits you should establish during this time to take care of your health.

  1. Brush and floss your teeth regularly. If you have periodontal disease or other dental problems right now, it can negatively impact your health.
  2. Drink water. Water helps flush out toxins in your system. Having an opportunity to flush out anything that is building up can be beneficial to your body.
  3. Eat vegetables. Consuming enough vegetables in your daily diet is the key to ensuring you stay healthy.
  4. Get plenty of exercises. Your body needs regular activity to stay healthy. Sitting around for long periods can cause overall health problems for your body that can last a lifetime. While you must eat healthy, working out is essential.

Update!

Yesterday my team and I made the extremely difficult situation to close the office in response to the recommendations of the American Dental Association to play our part in mitigating and containing COVID-19 Virus. While this was not an easy decision we want to be sure we are doing our part to keep our patients and our staff healthy.

We hope to reopen as soon as it is safe for us to do so but as you know things are changing rapidly and this situation is fluid. We will continue to monitor things and be in touch as things change.

If you have an emergency and you are a patient of record please call our office and leave a message or call Dr. Strutz’s cell. We are trying to get in touch with everyone, cancel appointments,  and create a plan with patients who are in the middle of treatment. Please be patient. If we do not respond right away, know that we will get back to you as soon as possible. We are here to support you and your dental health. Your well-being is our top priority.

Nothing changes when we live in comfort. This is an extraordinary time where we are watching things shift and change not only our planet but as humans. We are finding ways to come together and spread kindness when times are difficult. However, I believe at this time that it is an opportunity to look at the amazing things around us that are allowing us to accept these massive disruptions and build new, build better. We each have an energy that we are putting out in the world and to the people around us. We can make the conscious choice to change the habits that do not serve us, others and our planet. We have the opportunity to switch up our habits and become the best version of humans that we can be.

Our energy and what we put out around us matters. People are choosing to help each other out, go the extra mile. They are finding ways to come together as a community at the cellular level. This will be the blocks we need to rebuild in a healthier, better and more positive way. For right now we have to accept the disruption, we have to accept the major shift that is happening around us because when we lean into the shift great things will happen.

Thank You,
