Does Your Smile Make You Look Older Than You Really Are?

Take this short quiz to determine if your smile is causing you to look older than you are. "There are multiple problems that may impact our smiles, but certain problems can also cause your lips to sag, and/or wrinkles around your mouth," says Dr. Judy Strutz.

1.     Are you missing one or more of your teeth?
2.     Are there stains or decay visible on your teeth?
3.     Do you have wrinkles around your mouth?
4.     Do you have chipped or cracked teeth?
5.     Are your teeth worn down in the front?

If you have answered yes to 2 or more of these questions your smile may be working against you instead of for you. Restorative procedures can help replace missing, or cracked teeth. A great cleaning and whitening procedure can remove stains from your teeth, giving them a facelift. Replacing missing teeth can help not only improve your overall health but, also give you back the support your smile needs. Most people may not think of it too much, but chipped teeth give your smile the appearance of being worn down or of having trauma caused over time.

Dr. Strutz, recommends if you are impacted by any of these and are not happy with your smile for some other reason, contact her & her team today for more information on restorative procedures.

Is Oil Pulling Right For Me

Oil pulling is the process of swishing oil in the mouth, in order to pull impurities from the mouth and the body. While this procedure is not new, and has been done for thousands of years, it has only recently hit the mainstream as a process that can help rid the mouth and the body of the buildup of toxins. While oil pulling may not be right for you, when paired with healthy dental habits, research shows it can increase the health of your smile. Here are three things to consider before you begin this process.

Dr. Judy Strutz, says “While oil pulling can be beneficial, it may not be the right process for everyone.”  Toxins overtime build up in the mouth. These toxins can come from inside the body and be held in the mouth for long periods of time. If you lead a healthy life, and are able to rid toxins from the body through other processes, there may not be a need for you to utilize oil pulling. If you find yourself feeling, tired, sluggish and have low energy, you may be a good candidate to try this.

Oil pulling can remove buildup of plaque from your teeth. Nothing will replace healthy dental habits, but to provide an extra layer of support for your teeth, oil pulling can reduce the amount of plaque buildup, which leads to cavities and other problems.

Gum disease is the number one disease in America that affects adults. Dr. Strutz suggests, “Oil pulling can help strengthen the health of your gums.” Stronger gums help hold your teeth in place and decrease your chances of additional bone loss due to periodontal disease.

To Fix Or Not To Fix

Americans are faced with multiple problems throughout their day that impact their smile, their teeth, and their health. Sleep apnea is a common problem that impacts millions of Americans. While some people move about their day faced with sleep deprivation problems there is help you can get.

Some may feel that snoring once in a while is a minimal issue, or that treatment may be too expensive, but that is not the case.  Dr. Strutz and her team can help you achieve the rest you deserve so there is no reason to live one more day without help. Lack of sleep not only impacts your relationships, but after a while your body begins to break down. Your muscles will not work as efficiently and that includes your brain.

Waking up throughout the night to catch your breath can lead to death. Even if your sleep apnea is mild, one time not waking up to catch your breath is a problem. While sleep apnea may begin mildly, it can rapidly increase to a problem where you are waking up over twenty times a night in order to catch your breath, putting additional stress on other organs like your heart and lungs.

You may tell yourself that this isn’t the type of  procedure you want to invest in for yourself, but honestly, the impact to your health is too great not to at least visit with your dentist. Sleep apnea impacts mental clarity, internal organs, your motivation, your mood and ultimately your overall health and vitality.

If you think you may have sleep apnea contact Dr. Strutz and her team today for a consultation.
