Restore Your Smile and Improve Your Life

Our smile is the link to our overall heath. When we have decay, periodontal disease, missing, broken and cracked teeth, it not only can impact your overall self-confidence but it can change your overall heath. Dr. Strutz and her team recommend scheduling a consultation in order to determine which restorative procedures can help get your smile and your health back where you want it.

The body-mouth connection is a powerful one that can keep you from living the life you wish to have. Research has shown that patients who have periodontal disease are 40% more likely to have heart disease as well. Our immune systems are designed to fight infection. The immune system does not ignore infection just because it is in your mouth or impacting your gums. As you continue to have an infection, your body's immune system continues to attempt to fight off the infection.

Infection in the body tends to weaken the body's ability to control blood sugar. As the infection continues to be a problem it can lead to other significant problems including heart disease, diabetes and more severe problems with your teeth. By visiting Dr. Judy Strutz and her team, you can stop decay and other problems in its tracks. A consultation can determine the primary problem and begin to help you turn decay, broken or cracked teeth into a healthy smile which in turn gives you the healthy lifestyle you want.

Restore Your Smile Today!

You deserve to have a beautiful smile that you love to show off. If you are self-conscious of your smile, now is the time to fix your smile and share it with the world. Some people may not want to fix broken, cracked or missing teeth because they feel they have no choice but to have dentures. If you are told the word dentures and it makes you cringe, cringe no more. All-on-4 dentures are the dentures of the future. They provide you with a stable, denture that does not cover the palate of your mouth.

Traditional dentures use suction in order to stay in place, therefore they must cover the palate of the mouth, but All-on-4 dentures are fixed in place using dental implants, so the palate can remain uncovered and stay in place even when consuming certain foods. Traditional dentures also meant you were required you to take them out at night and clean them. Now you do not have to do that, All-on-4 dentures require you to brush as if they were your regular teeth.

Don’t run in the other direction when you hear denture, because All-on-4 dentures can be completed in a short amount of time, most of it being completed in one day. This allows you to have a durable smile and begin showing it to the world quickly.

4 Benefits Of All-On-4

All-on-4 dentures may be a term you have heard but didn’t invest more time in. So, what is the hype? Why is All-on-4 the newest and latest benefit to your smile? All-on-4 helps to restore your smile to a natural and beautiful one. Here are 4 reasons why Dr. Judy Strutz and her team recommend all on 4.

1.     Restore your smile and give you an appearance 20 years back. Individuals who have missing teeth begin to look older than they are. As your teeth shift into the position of the missing teeth, your lips and mouth begin to sag in, causing you to appear older. Having an All-on-4 denture placed helps to preserve the jawbone.

2.     Get immediate results. Once your denture is placed you can go back to enjoying food you love. All-on-4 dentures look and feel more like natural teeth then regular dentures.

3.     They are easy to care for. This denture does not come out at night or other times. This allows for you to brush as if they are your natural teeth.

4.     All-on-4 dentures helps to improve your health, by decreasing your risk of periodontal disease and other health problems related to missing or decayed teeth.

For more information on how All-on-4 can save your smile, schedule your consultation with Dr. Strutz and her team.

5 Tips To Keep Your Smile Healthy

There are hundreds of items that can negatively impact your smile throughout your day and at night. You have bacteria that regularly hangs out in your mouth. But if they are allowed to go rampant without brushing or flossing, it may negatively impact your smile for a lifetime. As important as brushing and flossing is, eating healthy and avoiding certain beverages can help ensure your smile stays healthy for a lifetime. Here are 5 other tips that can keep your smile bright and healthy.

1.     Visit your dentist on a regular basis. If you are impacted by periodontal disease make sure you visit your dentist on a regular basis for hygiene cleanings.
2.     Brush your teeth when you wake up and before you go to bed. Use gentle round circles, for at least 2 minutes. Don’t forget to brush each surface of your teeth.
3.     Avoid eating foods that are high in sugar especially if you are not going to brush for a while. The longer that sugar stays on your teeth the more opportunity there is for cavities and other problems to occur.
4.     Get missing and broken teeth fixed as soon as possible. When you have missing teeth, your other teeth can shift, causing problems with your jaw.
5.     Don’t forget the mouthwash. Mouthwash isn’t just to keep your breath fresh, it helps to decrease the risk of bacteria in your mouth.

6 Dangers Of Missing Teeth

You may think that one missing tooth is no big deal, but Dr.Judy Strutz recommends if you have a missing tooth that you seek guidance. One missing tooth can cause problems that lead to major dental issues, which could then end up costing you more money and more time. Here are 6 dangers of having a missing tooth.

1.     If you are losing a tooth due to decay. Once the crown, or the portion of tooth that is above the gum tissue of the tooth is missing, the decay is still there and it can spread to other teeth, causing you to lose more.
2.     Studies have shown, once you have a single missing tooth, it is more likely that you will lose up to five more.
3.     Once you have a single missing tooth other teeth will begin to shift in position. As they shift they can cause you to look much older than you really are.
4.     Missing teeth can inhibit you from eating the healthy foods you enjoy. Eating healthy can improve your overall physical health and also improve your overall smile.
5.     Employers analyze your smile when you interview for a new position. Unfortunately, they admit that is one of the first things they look at. If you are missing teeth you may also be missing out on opportunities.
6.     Missing teeth can decrease your overall health. If you lost your tooth due to periodontal disease, know that the infection in your mouth may impact other organs. This inflammation and disease can then cause problems with your liver, heart and gall bladder.

Restoring Your Smile Can Help You Avoid The Need For Other Facial Cosmetic Procedures

When you are impacted with cracked, broken or missing teeth it can cause your smile to sink in. Left unattended over time, it can not only cause you to look older but can also cause you to feel older. Individuals who have a smile they are not proud of report more cases of depression and other health problems. You may be unable to eat a proper and nutritious diet due to dental pain. Dr. Strutz says, "Gum disease can impact the jaw bone which will eventually dissolve due to underuse."

If you are considering plastic surgery, botox or other facial procedures to help you look younger, you may want to first contact a restorative dentist who can help to fix broken or chipped teeth. There are several options available to replace missing teeth and some of these procedures can be covered by insurance.

Your teeth give your lips their shape. If your teeth are not there to provide this shape you may show signs of premature aging. Once you have fixed your smile it can help to decrease your lips and cheeks from sagging. Remember though, once you have these procedures completed you’ll want to continue with regular dental and oral care in order to keep your new smile in tip-top shape.

Does Your Smile Make You Look Older Than You Really Are?

Take this short quiz to determine if your smile is causing you to look older than you are. "There are multiple problems that may impact our smiles, but certain problems can also cause your lips to sag, and/or wrinkles around your mouth," says Dr. Judy Strutz.

1.     Are you missing one or more of your teeth?
2.     Are there stains or decay visible on your teeth?
3.     Do you have wrinkles around your mouth?
4.     Do you have chipped or cracked teeth?
5.     Are your teeth worn down in the front?

If you have answered yes to 2 or more of these questions your smile may be working against you instead of for you. Restorative procedures can help replace missing, or cracked teeth. A great cleaning and whitening procedure can remove stains from your teeth, giving them a facelift. Replacing missing teeth can help not only improve your overall health but, also give you back the support your smile needs. Most people may not think of it too much, but chipped teeth give your smile the appearance of being worn down or of having trauma caused over time.

Dr. Strutz, recommends if you are impacted by any of these and are not happy with your smile for some other reason, contact her & her team today for more information on restorative procedures.

How Tired Are You?

Days, weeks, and months go by. You may be wondering if you’re losing your mind. One day you may remember everything and the next day, feel you can’t remember anything. Sometimes you go to bed and wake up never feeling fully rested. Or you may chug caffeine drinks all day long in an attempt to keep up with your co-workers only to fall asleep as soon as you get home. Sleep apnea can rob you of your life and your opportunities. You don’t need to wait any longer. Dr.Strutz & her team can evaluate your sleep apnea to determine if you are someone who could benefit from a dental device.

There is a difference between snoring and sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is caused by the throat closing off during your sleeping hours. You may stop breathing several times throughout the night, with the source of your oxygen cut off you then wake gasping for air.. If you suffer from sleep apnea you do not want to wait a minute longer for help, sleep apnea untreated can lead to a number of health issues as well as death.

Snoring is caused when air cannot freely move through the nasal passages, while sleep apnea is the inability for you to breath at all because your throat has closed down. Often, both conditions can be corrected with an appropriate custom fitted dental appliance. If you are not sure you have sleep apnea, a comprehensive exam can help.

For more information on the difference between snoring and sleep apnea contact Dr. Judy Strutz today.

Can a Crown Help Restore Your Smile?

There are several procedures that can be completed in order to keep the life of your smile in good shape. If you have broken or cracked teeth, it may be recommended by Dr. Judy Strutz & her team to have a crown. This procedure can help extend the life of your tooth, but not everyone should receive a crown, here are 3 things to keep in mind if you are considering this fantastic restorative procedure.
1.       Do you need a crown?

a.       Broken teeth can hurt when you bite down. Keeping a broken tooth exposed can cause you to be susceptible to a variety of problems. For example, you may begin to eat only on one side of the mouth due to the pain. This can eventually lead to bone loss in the jaw, or pain in the jaw.

2.       Vertical cracks down to the gum line could indicate a need for a crown.
a.       Vertical cracks can cause problems with decay, sensitivity and eventually pain if not dealt with quickly. This problem can also lead to bigger problems if left untreated. A crown can help to diminish discomfort, pain and the need for a future root canal.
3.       If you have a large cavity

a.       A filling may be an option if you have a large cavity or a large amount of decay. A filling may be an option, but it may not give you the coverage of the tooth you need. Crowns are sturdy and durable and can last for years.
