How Can You Tell If You Have a Cavity?

Do you have noticeable sharp pain when you eat or drink? Or when you look at your smile, do you see a hole? You might also be experiencing pain in general when you are doing business. All of these could be a sign that you have a cavity.

Various daily habits can cause cavities, which can become a problem that impacts your sleep, eating, or daily life. Scheduling a consultation with your dentist can help get you back on your feet. If you have a cavity and let it go for too long, you might end up with a situation that causes more pain and is more costly to fix.

Cavities are not necessarily caused by one thing in one day. They are often created over time by a habit you have or an act you do often that wears down the enamel on your teeth. While brushing and flossing reduce the risk of cavities, once a cavity has formed, there is no way to get rid of it without visiting the dentist.

However, visiting your cosmetic dentist can ensure your cavity is fixed, and you are back on the right track with your dental health.

A Healthy Smile

We get busy, and our smiles take a backseat. However, it is so vital that we take care of our smile. Once we have a problem, it can change quickly, creating an infection that impacts our entire body. But when we schedule our regular cosmetic dental appointments, we can be sure that everything is taken care of quickly.

Your teeth should last you a lifetime, but over the years of consuming high carbohydrate meals, not drinking enough water, and too much caffeine can negatively affect your smile, impacting your overall self-confidence. So Dr. Judy Strutz and her team make it a priority to get your smile back on track. As well, having oral health problems can put you at risk for cardiovascular disease, dementia, and respiratory infections, as well as other health concerns.

If you have questions or concerns about your smile, you will want to schedule a cosmetic dental appointment immediately. Waiting can, unfortunately, have a devastating impact on your smile. Dr. Judy Strutz and her team can help get your smile on track.

New Year’s Resolutions

You may have made a New Year resolution every year that you have broken, but now is your opportunity to improve your smile and keep your resolution. This does not have to be like every other year, where just a few weeks after the New Year you lost focus of your goals. Here are 4 ways to keep your smile and body in great shape and stick to your resolution of a healthier you.

1.     Brush everyday regularly. There is no other action that better takes care of your smile than brushing your teeth on a regular basis.  Brushing 2x a day or after each meal can ensure you keep your smile healthy.
2.     Floss at least 1x a day. Research shows that flossing your teeth is essential to keeping your gums in great shape. While brushing is great for your smile, flossing ensures there are no food particles left below the gum line.
3.     Make an appointment with your prosthodontist. If you have broken, missing or cracked teeth, getting them fixed now can give you a smile you love and it can also ensure you have a healthier smile for tomorrow.
4.     Eat healthy foods. Fruits and vegetables are your smile’s best friend. Eating healthy not only fuels your body, but it helps to keep your smile healthy as well.

You Are Worth It!

You give time to your family, time to your friends, clean up after the kids,  and get coffee with a friend. In the end of all this may lead you feeling tired, run down, and you may not have time for yourself.  But it is important for you to take care of yourself and your smile. Here are 3 tips, from Dr. Judy Strutz, that you can follow through with to keep your smile in great shape.

1.     Oil pulling. Complete oil pulling first thing in the morning when you wake up. Utilize coconut or sunflower oil in order to remove food particles from between the teeth. Don’t swallow any of the oil, but just swish back and forth for about twenty minutes.

2.     Fix broken teeth. While a broken tooth may not seem like a big deal it can impact your smile and your other teeth! One broken tooth can lead to wearing down other teeth, causing pain and other dental problems.

3.     Visit the prosthodontist if you have jaw trouble. Don’t let problems and pain continue as many times it can easily and affordably be corrected. Jaw pain could mean your bite is off, which can then cause you to break teeth as you bite down to consume some of your favorite foods.

Don’t waste time with a smile you don’t love. You are worth the smile that will last you a lifetime.
