You deserve to have a beautiful and healthy smile. Do not leave your smile vulnerable to cavities, periodontal disease or missing, cracked or broken teeth. Taking time to visit your cosmetic dentist and receive a
consultation on your smile, can ensure you are on the right track.
Nowadays, grabbing a soda and candy bar for lunch may be the norm for you. However, that amount of sugar can impact your smile.
There are so many choices you can make during the day. If you are going
to consume sugar or a high carbohydrate meal, instead of waiting until
bedtime to brush, you might want to consider brushing your teeth or
rinsing with water to remove some of the food particles from the surface
of your teeth. The longer these items are glued to the enamel on your
teeth the more damage that is done.
If you find you are struggling to have a healthy smile you love, contact
Dr. Judy Strutz and her team. They can help evaluate and work with you on a plan to get your smile back in order. It is critically important you have a healthy smile because if not it can lead to other more detrimental problems later on.

We Don't Take Short Cuts
Your smile is incredibly important to us. We want to be sure that when you leave our office that you are happy and can't wait to show off your smile to friends. We do not take short-cuts with your dental care. Here are five things we do to ensure you love your smile.
- Consultation. Before we even begin work, we have you come in, and we consult with you on what it is that you are looking for with your smile.
- We give you a treatment plan. Sometimes it takes time for you to process everything. No problem. We'll give you a copy of your treatment plan that way you know what work we are going to do.
- Time of Appointment. During the time of your visit, before we begin work we will talk about what we are doing on your visit.
- After the visit, we will touch base with you to be sure that you know what work will be done on your upcoming visit, what work we did during the current visit, and what the next steps are for you and your smile.

Your Smile Matters!
While
we live in an interesting time right now and things might be changing rapidly for you. Don't stop learning and growing, and taking care of your smile. It is so important that your smile is healthy because if you are not taking care of your smile, your overall health can suffer.
It
is easy to let certain habits go when you are at home all day or working from home. So, how can you continue with healthy smile habits when your schedule is disrupted?
- Brush your teeth and floss as soon as your feet hit the floor. You don't want to get other things in the way and sidetrack you.
- Pack healthy snacks to keep by your side. It's easy to eat whatever when your kitchen is right next to you. So, pack healthy snacks. Or ensure you have healthy fruits and vegetables set aside for you to consume during the day. They are great for your smile.
- Drink water! Drinking water is a fantastic way to keep your smile healthy. It rinses food from your teeth. This ensures that food does not stick to the enamel on your teeth.
While
these habits are not new, they are great reminders to keep your smile
healthy in time, when things have changed drastically for some. For more
information on keeping your smile healthy, contact Dr. Judy Strutz and

Spending Time At Home
While some people may enjoy being at home, many people are struggling with isolation or not having the opportunity to be with people in person. While this can be difficult developing, great dental and health habits can be a great way to ensure you have a healthy smile when quarantine is over. Here are three strategies you can use to start a healthy habit:
- Define your why and start with what healthy people do. For example, if you want to brush more frequently. Ask yourself why you want this habit? What will you get out of having a healthy smile when you brush 3x a day or 2x a day? Put those reminders around you. For example, on a sticky note on the bathroom mirror or on the refrigerator when you go to get food. Take a picture of you with your current smile and then have a picture up of the healthy smile you are looking to have.
- Don't spend more than 2 minutes. Brushing your smile does not take a lot of time.
- Start with this sentence, when I wake up, I'm going to brush my teeth and then __________. Insert into the blank something fun you get to do when you have brushed your teeth. This is a great way to reinforce in your brain; something fantastic is going to happen once you get done with the task.

Don't Wait!

You do not want to wait until you have a problem with your smile before getting help. Scheduling visits with your cosmetic dentist to ensure the health of your smile is on track can happen during this time. While we are in unprecedented times, and some things have changed, what has not changed is the importance of brushing, flossing, and taking care of your smile.
While visiting the dentist should occur every six months, depending on what is going on with your smile you may need to visit more. That is okay. Your cosmetic dentist will sit down with you and discuss your options.
When you have pain, a broken tooth or your gums are swollen, that is too late. By then, you already have a problem going on that can cause more time and more money to fix. Going in for routine cleanings can decrease the risk of a larger problem developing over time. Be sure to call our office and schedule an appointment today so we can be sure your smile is ready for whatever summer throws at you.
