Enamel is the hard coating that protects your teeth. It is
the hardest substance in the body but can be impacted by the items you eat and
drink. As you consume foods that are high in acid or forget to brush your teeth,
the enamel begins to wear away and the material underneath called dentine
becomes exposed. This can cause pain and other problems if it is not taken care
of. Here are 3 signs of dental erosion
problems from Dr. Judy Strutz.
1.
You may begin to notice that your teeth are more
sensitive than they have been before. If you are consuming hot or cold
substances, you may feel a stinging in your tooth when all you are trying to do
is enjoy your coffee.
2.
Darker, yellow stains that are different than
buildup from food or other substances. Dentine is a darker yellow color and can
appear as a stain on your teeth.
3.
Hollows or a general wearing down look of the
enamel can begin to appear on the surface of your teeth.
Dental erosion is a problem that can impact
your smile and your overall health. As the enamel begins to wear down, you may
become more sensitive which can cause you to not eat or limit the food you need
to eat. For more information on dental erosion contact Dr. Strutz and her team
