Spending Time At Home

While some people may enjoy being at home, many people are struggling with isolation or not having the opportunity to be with people in person. While this can be difficult developing, great dental and health habits can be a great way to ensure you have a healthy smile when quarantine is over. Here are three strategies you can use to start a healthy habit:
  1. Define your why and start with what healthy people do. For example, if you want to brush more frequently. Ask yourself why you want this habit? What will you get out of having a healthy smile when you brush 3x a day or 2x a day? Put those reminders around you. For example, on a sticky note on the bathroom mirror or on the refrigerator when you go to get food. Take a picture of you with your current smile and then have a picture up of the healthy smile you are looking to have.
  2. Don't spend more than 2 minutes. Brushing your smile does not take a lot of time.
  3. Start with this sentence, when I wake up, I'm going to brush my teeth and then __________. Insert into the blank something fun you get to do when you have brushed your teeth. This is a great way to reinforce in your brain; something fantastic is going to happen once you get done with the task.

Don't Wait!

You do not want to wait until you have a problem with your smile before getting help. Scheduling visits with your cosmetic dentist to ensure the health of your smile is on track can happen during this time. While we are in unprecedented times, and some things have changed, what has not changed is the importance of brushing, flossing, and taking care of your smile.
While visiting the dentist should occur every six months, depending on what is going on with your smile you may need to visit more. That is okay. Your cosmetic dentist will sit down with you and discuss your options.
When you have pain, a broken tooth or your gums are swollen, that is too late. By then, you already have a problem going on that can cause more time and more money to fix. Going in for routine cleanings can decrease the risk of a larger problem developing over time. Be sure to call our office and schedule an appointment today so we can be sure your smile is ready for whatever summer throws at you.

Visiting The Dentist During the COVID-19

While most states have opened back up, you might still have some concerns or anxiety about COVID-19 and visiting the dentist. We assure you that we take the procedures for safety and cleanliness in our office as a top priority.  We want all of our patients to feel safe.

We are open and ready to support your dental needs however, we ask that if you are feeling sick, have a fever, cough, or just do not feel well that you stay home and re-schedule your appointment. Your health is more important than anything else and we want to be sure you take care of yourself.

If you do visit the office, we have PPE that our team is wearing in order to protect us, and you. We are continuing with the sanitization procedures of our chairs and dental materials that we have always done. However, we are also asking that you do not bring other individuals with you to your appointment in order to decrease the risk of exposure and decrease the number of individuals who are in the waiting room. For more information on any procedures for COVID-19 or other concerns, please contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.

Now Is Your Time!

You deserve to have a healthy smile. Think of your smile as the foundation of your house. If your foundation has decay, problems or you have broken or cracked teeth, it can create a problem for your overall health. However, if you take care of your teeth, then it is easier for your body to run at full capacity.

For example, periodontal disease is known to cause an increased risk of heart disease. The problem with periodontal disease is that your body is always fighting an infection. The food you consume turns to acid in your mouth, the more acid or the higher carbohydrate count in your food can cause more problems for your smile. While brushing, and flossing is a great strategy for combating this problem, it is critically important to take the time needed to visit the dentist. You want to ensure these problems are not getting worse and that there is not a build-up of bacteria on the surface of your teeth.

However, you also want to plan for regular dental cleanings. You wan to be sure you have cosmetic dental procedures completed if you have cracked or broken teeth, and visiting your cosmetic dentist regularly can ensure you have a smile that is going to last a lifetime. Contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team today to schedule an appointment.

Bad Breath

Bad breath is caused by a variety of problems. It might be the food you are consuming or problems that run deeper. No matter what the problem is you are facing, we are here to help. It can be extremely embarrassing to be speaking to someone, only to realize you have smelly breath that you are not sure where it is coming from. Brushing and flossing will only go so far if you are impacted by Halitosis.

Here are 4 of the most common reasons for Halitosis:
  1. Food. Onions, and other strong-smelling and tasting foods might leave their smell behind long after you want it to.
  2. Underline Health Condition. Some health conditions can cause problems
  3. Smoking, or other tobacco products
  4. Dry mouth. During the summer months, it is easy to become dehydrated. Make sure you are drinking a lot of water.

We want to help you. We will get to the root cause of the problem, work through a plan with you, and help develop a plan to ensure you walk away with a healthy smile, that does not cause you to cover or hide from the person you are talking to. For more information, contact Dr. Judy Strutz and her team.
