Why Tongue And Lip Tie Often Go Unnoticed

It is unfortunate but research and new moms tell us that despite the information available on lip and tongue tie they sometimes go months without help. When they are struggling to breastfeed there may be other things that are suggested before someone determines it is not the mom or the baby that is causing this problem. That the baby may not able to breastfeed properly because they are impacted with a lip or tongue tie.

Being a new mom has its fair share of problems. When you are first breastfeeding it can be difficult to relax and allow your baby to latch on properly. Sometimes, breastfeeding takes time and work in order for both baby and mom to be comfortable. This adjustment period can be difficult and often times, when your struggling to breastfeed during these first few days, other problems are looked at first.

Lip and tongue tie, cause a problem for your baby to be able to latch on to the nipple properly. They may latch on to the side, or they may eat for a short period and then become full due to an intake in air, only to be hungry a few minutes later. When your baby is not latching on to your breast correctly, it can then lead to sore or bleeding nipples inhibiting the breastfeeding process further.

If you are breastfeeding and it is not going as planned, Dr.Strutzhttp://www.drjudystrutz.com/meet-dr-strutz/ recommends having your baby evaluated for a lip or tongue tie in order to see if there is something more going on. Start Your Day Off With A Smile

Bad days may be a dime a dozen. You may wake up and struggle to get yourself into a happy place. Showering becomes a chore, eating breakfast takes work and opening up your door and heading to your job may seem unbearable. Instead of dreading every moment, start your day off with a big smile or a belly laugh. Research shows that smiling and laughing can instantly improve your mood.

If you struggle to smile because you do not like the smile staring back at you, then it is time you contacted Dr. Strutz and her team for a consultation on how to improve your smile. Cosmetic procedures are able to improve your smile, and some can be done in a very short amount of time.

In order to fix missing or broken teeth, Dr. Judy Strutz may recommend a bridge or a dental implant. These are not the fake teeth from twenty years ago. These are designed to look and feel like your teeth do now. They help to improve the look of your smile, but you can also eat foods that you enjoy that may be a tougher texture without problems. Dental implants are durable and can last a long time. They are matched to the color of your teeth in order to make your smile look beautiful instead of standing out against a crowd.

5 Tips To Keep Your Smile Healthy

There are hundreds of items that can negatively impact your smile throughout your day and at night. You have bacteria that regularly hangs out in your mouth. But if they are allowed to go rampant without brushing or flossing, it may negatively impact your smile for a lifetime. As important as brushing and flossing is, eating healthy and avoiding certain beverages can help ensure your smile stays healthy for a lifetime. Here are 5 other tips that can keep your smile bright and healthy.

1.     Visit your dentist on a regular basis. If you are impacted by periodontal disease make sure you visit your dentist on a regular basis for hygiene cleanings.
2.     Brush your teeth when you wake up and before you go to bed. Use gentle round circles, for at least 2 minutes. Don’t forget to brush each surface of your teeth.
3.     Avoid eating foods that are high in sugar especially if you are not going to brush for a while. The longer that sugar stays on your teeth the more opportunity there is for cavities and other problems to occur.
4.     Get missing and broken teeth fixed as soon as possible. When you have missing teeth, your other teeth can shift, causing problems with your jaw.
5.     Don’t forget the mouthwash. Mouthwash isn’t just to keep your breath fresh, it helps to decrease the risk of bacteria in your mouth.

Keep Your Smile White By Avoiding These 4 Items

The food you eat is as important as brushing and flossing on a regular basis. Different types of foods can stain your teeth causing them to look dirty and unhealthy. Avoiding these 4 foods can help to naturally keep your smile white and healthy without expensive procedures or whitening kits that cause your teeth to be sensitive. A white and healthy smile can increase your self-confidence. Millions of people a year flock to the store to purchase at home whitening kits, but instead of spending your money on these items, you can help by taking precautions and minimizing consumption of certain foods and drink.

Minimize your consumption of black tea and coffee. The more of these you drink, the more problems you may have with stains.  A cup a day may not impact your smile, but a pot a day can cause a problem for your smile.

Highly pigmented foods such as blueberries and strawberries can cause staining. If you do choose to consume them, eat them in smaller amounts. You should also brush and floss as soon as possible in order to remove the juice from your teeth.

Do you love curry? The deep yellow of the curry can cause staining on the front of your teeth over time. While again a small amount of curry may not cause problems for your smile, consuming large amounts for long periods of time can keep you from enjoying a pearly white smile.

Red wine, is a controversial topic. One day a glass of wine is good for you and the next it is a problem. But if you are going to consume red wine, it is better to brush your teeth immediately after consuming it.

Dr. Judy Strutz and her team recommends consuming foods that help keep your smile white and healthy.  For more information on food that can improve your smile, contact her and her team today.

Habits That Will Help You Keep Your Smile For A Lifetime

There are plenty of dental habits that you can engage in that can cause long and short term problems for your smile. Biting on your nails or using your teeth as tools can do damage that can impact your teeth and gums. Not brushing or flossing can cause cavities, decay and, eventually, missing or cracked teeth. Dr. Judy Strutz recommends these 7 healthy habits in order to keep your smile ready for a lifetime.

1.     Eat healthy. Eight fruits and vegetables a day can keep your smile in great standing.
2.     Eight glasses of water a day. It is important to keep your mouth moist throughout the day.
3.     Brushing 2x a day because there is no other way to remove food from the surface of the teeth.
4.     Flossing at least 1x a day can keep periodontal disease from impacting your smile.
5.     Visiting the dentist regularly can ward off any problems that may be impacting your smile.
6.     Getting cracked, broken or missing teeth taken care of right away decreases the chance of the problem getting worse.
7.     Avoiding sodas and other drinks that are high in sugar decrease your chances of negatively impacting the enamel on your teeth.

Is Your Smile Ready For Your Next Event?

Over time your teeth may become worn down, and your smile may be impacted by periodontal disease, or you may have cracked or missing teeth. Any of these situations may cause you to attempt to hide your smile at your next special event. Dr. Judy Strutz and her team can help evaluate your smile in order give you a healthy smile that will last a lifetime.

If you have cracked or broken teeth, a crown may be the best way to go. A crown can be matched to existing teeth and then cover your damaged tooth. It will keep the tooth strong and restore natural function back to your teeth while presenting an appearance that looks like a natural tooth. A crown can also help keep a tooth from fracturing.

Missing teeth can be fixed using dental implants or bridges in order to make sure that you can enjoy your smile. Implants can restore your smile to its natural ability. Once the implants have been placed, you can floss, brush and eat as if your implant teeth were your natural teeth.

Veneers can cover any teeth that may be different lengths, or are slightly damaged or have stains. Veneers cover the front of the teeth and act as your natural teeth. They can be fitted to be the same color as your natural teeth and once they are placed, they allow you to enjoy food that you once loved.
